A house rabbit may seem like the perfect companion for your child, but this is not always the case. Many children are too young to handle a rabbit appropriately. Bunnies may look cute and cuddly, but they do not behave in ways typified in children’s stories or cartoons.

Many rabbits do not enjoy being held and will kick and claw when picked up. Your child may end up with some painful scratches. Your rabbit may end up far worse. Rabbits are delicate creatures and struggling to get out of the grasp of a child (or adult) can leave them with broken bones or other injuries.

There is a large variety of freshwater tropical fish that you can add to your fish tank but my two favorites are Mollies and fancy guppies. These fish are livebearers meaning that instead of laying eggs, they give birth to a little tiny fish and they are, in fact, quite easy to breed even for a novice aquarist.

Mollies

A Molly is a great fish for a beginner hobbyist. These fish are fairly hearty and will withstand adversity and conditions well so if you make a mistake you can have a good chance of you for surviving. You want to be sure that you have a least a 15 gallon tank and you have a good heater as these fish like the temperature to be between 70 and 82°F.

Cichlids are the most popular types of tropical fish to keep in an aquarium. It is estimated that there are over 15,000 separate species of cichlid, one of which is the discus fish (Symphysodon spp.) . Discus fish are popular with hobbyists because they have distinctive behaviors and are exceptionally beautiful (they also have dorsal and anal fins that blend into the body to give the fish the look of a discus shape). This article will discuss the things you need to consider when starting a Discus aquarium.

Without a doubt, cockatiels are beautiful birds and make for wonderful pets in any home. The biggest issue with this kind of bird will be choosing the right type of cockatiel bird cage. Here are some tips on what to look for.

When you go to pick out any bird cage, whether for a cockatiel, parrot or other exotic bird, be sure you understand the needs of the bird first.

A cockatiel is a pretty small bird relatively speaking, but they like to have a lot of room to move around. This makes getting a large bird cage a must.

Many parents worry about having a cat in the home with children. They worry not only for the safety of their child but also that of the cat’s. However cats are wonderful companions for children and for many it is the first real friend that they make. Generally speaking the benefits far out weigh any problems and as long as parents oversee the interaction between the two all will be well.

Becoming more and more popular as a pet, the chinchilla, with its timid and gentle nature, big black eyes, large round ears, long whiskers, long bushy tail and the finest and densest fur of any animal in the World is often described as the nearest thing to a real life cuddly toy.
Chinchillas make ideal pets, they are very clean, rarely bite unless frightened and with a little effort and patience are easy to tame. They are also hardy and quite simple to care for provided a few basic rules are followed, the most important of which is correct diet.
In the wild chinchillas are ground dwelling animals living in crevices in rocks and belong to the group of animals known as ‘rock hoppers’.

As one of the more popular lizard breeds taken in as pets, the bearded dragon lizard is actually quite easy to look after. They require minimum fuss and maintenance except for the staple care and supplies of the general reptile breed as a whole.

There is no recommended age for the bearded dragon to be bought as a pet. Unlike other animals that develop bonds with their caretakers during childhood and become tamer as they spend more time with humans, bearded dragons are independent creatures. They fend for themselves and even those adopted during adulthood can develop strong relations with their owners.

Wondering about raising alpacas as pets? Well, wonder no more. These sixteen questions and answers will help you decide if raising exotic farm animals will work for you.

1. How much room does an alpaca need?

One acre will keep five
alpacas healthy and happy.

2. What kind of fencing and shelter are needed for an alpaca?

Alpacas
will not challenge a fence. A fence is needed to keep predators out,
especially the neighborhood dog. It must be a fence that an alpaca can
not stick its head through and get stuck, too. 2 x 4 no climb fencing
works well. Be sure a dog can not dig under the fence or gate. A three-
sided shelter is plenty in most climates, in really cold areas you may want
a barn.

First things first, just how do you choose a good veterinarian for your reptile bearded dragon lizard friend? The decision of who to choose could be tough yet when a good bearded dragon lizard vet is found, you can rest assured that your reptile will have a healthy life ahead of him.

Although the best person who will determine the vet that is good for your bearded dragon is ultimately you, it is advisable that you know how to appropriately handle and care for your pet so that you yourself will know the veterinarian who will give as much – if not more – care for your reptile pet.
