Under normal circumstances, puppies of the Golden Retriever breed will feed off their mother until the age of approximately seven weeks. However, once they have reached the age of three weeks, you should start providing them with puppy dog food, which you can soak and mix into some kind of grub. An occasional try of soaked dog food will at least give them a chance to learn what it taste like and slowly make the change in preparation for when their mother refuses to let them feed off her anymore.

Providing healthier snacks for your dog can go a long way in giving him a better chance at a long and satisfying life with fewer health-related issues. A dog's dietary and nutritional needs are substantially different than a human's dietary and nutritional needs. Giving a dog treats from your dinner table might be fun and he might seem to really enjoy them, but any veterinarian will tell you that they simply aren't healthy snacks for your dog.

In general, the type of table scraps that people feed their dogs isn't the most nutritious for them. A slice of bacon, meat scraps complete with juicy fat trimmings, and greasy potato chips are just a few of the unhealthy snacks that many owners will toss their dog's way. Why not share the tasty morsels that humans indulge in on a regular basis? The simple reason why you shouldn't do so is that there are healthier snacks for your dog.

Some peope believe that being an owner of a dog is similar to that when you own a boat, it’s a continual expense. The moment you returned home and brought a dog with you (A pet adoption fee ranging from to three thousand dollars or more if you have chosen a pureblood dog will be paid) you need to implement some pressing needs.

If you own a boat it is also the same as owning a dog, the expenses that you will tend to face are ongoing. As soon as you bring the dog home (which can cost anywhere from a thirty dollar pet adoption charge to three thousand dollars and up for pedigree dogs) there are immediate demands to be fulfilled.

The varying quality of ingredients often found acceptable in pet food. And the importance of reading the labels to determine the actual food quality.

Trying to understand pet food labels is sometimes difficult and can be time consuming. There are a few things to consider while buying food for your dog: age, teeth, and health. There are many varieties of both wet and dry food dogs and cats. Even treats will have labels that are hard to read.

The FDA states that dog food labels have to list the minimum amounts of protein, and fat; also, the maximum amounts of moisture and crude fiber. There are other manufacturers that do list other ingredients as well. Dog food labels do not usually state the minimum percentages of calcium, sodium, phosphorus or linoleic acid. Cat food labels normally list taurine and magnesium, two necessary nutrients for cats.

Planning to travel with your pet? Learn how…

It is not unusual for Shih Tzu owners to take their Shih Tzus with them during travels. Apart from being great household companions, many shih tzus have become their owner’s favorite travel companions because of their size and temperament - alert, happy, affectionate and friendly little dogs. However, owners must remember that extra care should be given to shih tzus when traveling because they are sensitive to temperatures being brachycephalic dogs.

Older dogs are most prone to arthritis and
that’s the sad fact. Arthritis in dogs is very similar to arthritis in humans.
And there are no absolute cures yet.

The only thing that you can
do for now is to manage the disease and make your dog feel comfortable despite
its condition.

Old or young dogs with
arthritis can still live a normal life if owners just give them what they need
to ease the pain. For starters, your dog is going to need comfortable bedding.
Arthritis is a joint and muscle condition that could really be crippling. The
most you can do is give your pet soft beddings, ideally a rubber foam mattress
that is about five inches thick.

Food intolerances, defined as a dog inability to digest a
certain kind of dog food, are far more common in dogs than food allergies.
Compare dog food intolerances to allergies: only 10% to 12% of the canine
population has allergies while up to 50% could suffer from an intolerance.
Nearly half of all dogs are unable to stomach a certain kind of food and could
become sick within half an hour of consuming it.

Crate train your puppy early as it will benefit both the puppy and its owner. The puppy will use the crate as its home or bed for rest and security, if trained properly.

It could also assist you in your potty training too.

Congratulations, you now have a new member in your family. The puppy will bring  joy and company to you and your family in the coming years.

I am sure you would have bought a bowl for food and water, collar, a leash and some puppy dog food for your puppy.

Have you decided where the puppy is going to sleep?

I strongly suggest that you get a dog crate for your puppy too and start crate training your puppy immediately.
