In today's fast paced shopping world, the pet stores are beginning to look more like large shopping centers for you and your beloved pet. Just about anything you may ever need for your loved one can be found in these one stop stores.

Of all the animal products that are sold in these stores, the dog and cat products, are the most popular. Most generally you will often find cute little puppies and kittens in these shop windows just begging you to take them home. You will be able to find all of your pets foods and even their treats in these great stores.

American Ringtail is a new feline breed. It is made remarkable by its ringed tail.

A relatively new feline breed, American Ringtail is not yet fully
registered and is at the moment in an experimental stage as a breed. It
originated only a few years back, when in 1998 a stray male kitten was
rescued in Fremont, California. As the cat grew it was discovered that
he tended to keep his tail in a curled position over his back. There
was no deformity or medical problem found with the animal and he seemed
to be in no discomfort as he held his tail in the particular manner.
Soon other cats in the locality were seen with a similar ‘ring’ tail.
After genetic consultation, a decision was eventually made to develop
these unique cats as a formal breed. The original ringtail male was
crossed with a foreign bodied female at the start. Since then several
litters have been born with kittens that display the ‘ringtail’ trait.
Originally called ‘Ringtail Sing-a-ling’ these pretty felids are now
named ‘American Ringtail’ cats and are currently on the road to full
recognition by cat breed registration bodies.

Ukranian Levkoy is a breed of domestic cats. It is one of the most recent cat breeds in existence.

One of the newest cat breeds around, Ukranian Levkoy is seen
predominantly in the east European country of Ukraine. Very few of
these cats exist in other countries. Work on the Ukrainian Levkoy began
at the beginning of twenty first century when it was felt there was a
need for a cat of Ukrainian origin with a distinct appearance,
particularly desirable for some breeders. After continuous efforts,
finally in early 2004, first Ukrainian Levkoy kittens were born through
crossing of a lop-eared male with a female Sphynx cat. Several dozen
cats have been born since then and are currently registered mainly in
Ukraine and Russia.

One of the good rules of thumb to apply here is to think about having a toddler around, only a toddler in miniature size ? mobile, curious but tiny!  This means that you need to consider your home in terms of potential kitty hazards before the kitten gets too old and “into everything?. 

Although there are some thing that you’d have to do to create a safe home for your toddler that aren’t necessary for a kitten (such as power sockets and drawer locks), there are a few things you should take a look at with a critical eye as to whether or not they present a danger to your kitty.

Imagine some sophisticated hunting machine and individuals
will surely think of their beloved cats. Cats are natural hunters and they
possess all the physical tools, and proficiencies, required to chase the prey.
They have adequate speed, athleticism, flexibility, and killer instinct, which
are essential characteristics of a sharp hunter.

However, cats are not born hunters, who kill for food.
Instead, tracing, killing and hunting are learned behaviors. Possibility of
hunger cannot drive or teach a feline to kill the prey. A feline may be a
skilled mouse hunter and yet may never eat a mouse or wish to eat it anytime.
They consider rat killing as a play.

From one of my earlier postings about adopting a kitten, I do hope that I was able to have offered some good advice and tips for readers.

In today’s posting, I am going to touch on how you can keep your home really ‘kitten proof’, without much inconvenience to yourself.

Now that you’ve decided where you’re going to go to adopt your new kitty, probably you have already narrowed your selection to one that you simply must bring home. You have stocked up enough kitty essentials, and you have even prepared kitty’s ‘room’.

There is still one more step which you need to do before kitty’s homecoming: ‘Kitty proofing’ your home, not only for kitty’s sake, but your furniture’s too, from wear and tear.

Some cat breeds are low maintenance, while others require frequent brushing. Cat breeds are not as different from each other as different dog breeds but there are still some mighty different types of cats out there. Some cat breeds are people-pets and there are other cat’s breeds that prefer to be aloof and independent. Some cat breeds are more prone to spells of silence, but sometimes individual cats of the more vocal breeds are also not very talkative.

Cats Are Unique

Cats have amazing abilities to hear, see and smell. Cats will also turn their ears back when they are playing or to listen to a sound coming from behind them. Felines will also use contact to communicate urgency, from gentle reminders of feeding time to a demanding insistent rub. Cats involved in a conflict may extend their fully bristled tail straight into the air and turn their body sideways to appear larger.

A Garden for your Pet Cat Cats enjoy roaming around in gardens, investigation and getting into mischief. Why not set aside a piece of garden to bring pleasure to your cat(s).

We have two house cats, a Ragdoll and a Persian Chinchilla, that love to go out and play in the sun. We set aside a part of the garden to the rear of the house which would be 3/4 lawn and the rest a planted raised bed.

We cleared the area concerned by taking down half a dozen 15ft conifers, some of the trunks were retained to build a cat climbing frame. The stumps and roots were poisoned then covered with pvc then a layer of weed suppressing material.

Declawing your cat is a subject that is debated widely amongst the cat community. Many people feel that it is inhumane and that it can lead to behavior problems. More and more veterinarians are now educating cat owners that declawing your cat should only be done if nothing else works. With this in mind here are some alternatives to declawing your cat.

One possible alternative is to buy a declawed cat from the humane society. The operation has already been performed, so your cat has already been through the trauma. The only catch is that often times, the reason why a declawed cat is given to the humane society is because of the common behavior problem of biting.

In the movies, cats love a bowl of cold milk. In the real world, giving a cat milk can do more harm than good.

While milk might seem like a natural choice for your cat, the truth is that cow’s milk offers no nutritional value for cats, and it can cause digestive problems in many. The reason is that most cats develop intolerance to lactose shortly after they are weaned. This means that they are unable to digest the sugars that occur naturally in milk. This causes problems that include diarrhea and other unpleasant digestive problems.
